- The two Jurassic Park sets for Unmatched were created due to a discontinued board game called Jurassic Park: The Chaos Gene. After the game was officially canceled, Mondo and Restoration recycled the unused mini-sculpts from that project to form the basis for these boxes.

- One of the primarily cited reasons why Ingen vs Raptors was released so far ahead of Dr. Sattler vs T-Rex is because the Raptors didn't require likeness approval by the licensor, unlike the other characters.

- Oliver Barrett was originally slated to do the art for this set, but due to conflicting schedules, Florian Bertmer became the artist for this set instead.

History and Fun Facts

- At one point, Grant was going to be a solo-box character released in the Jurassic Park line of products. Unfortunately, the license ran out before the character could be published. Grant's gimmick would have been researching cards his opponent played; some of the effects intended for that mechanic were reimplemented in Sattler's kit.

- Justin Jacobson has expressed that "we've found it challenging to design non "fighter" decks like Sattler and Holmes. But they can offer some very interesting results if you get creative about how to represent them." This may have been another factor in why Grant was ultimately scrapped according to a later statement.

Justin Jacobson, Discord, July 30th, 2020 and October 6th, 2021

- Sattler's deck composition is strange, with only 2 attack-only cards and 2 schemes, meaning Sattler and Malcolm can block with 26 of the 30 cards in her deck. Additionally, she has four x1 cards, an incredibly rare design choice since Battle of Legends Vol. 1 and Bruce Lee.

Recommended Roster:
Bruised Knuckles

This character selection prioritizes characters that are beginner-friendly and relatively straightforward to pilot but don't pull any punches. With all the fighters having a Move 2, there's more encouragement to get down and dirty rather than keeping your distance.

T-Rex

Recommended Match-Ups: Achilles, Alice, Bigfoot, Daredevil, Genie, Medusa, Moon Knight, Yennenga

History and Fun Facts

- The reason why T-Rex doesn't have a colored ring around her base is because it would have required a new mold and increased her center of gravity even more than her large model already does.

Justin Jacobson, Discord, March 21st, 2022

- The T-Rex is currently the only Large Fighter in the game, taking up 2 spaces on the board, and is unable to interact with many of the board gimmicks (portals, one-way paths, doors). Additionally, T-Rex must be able to reach both spaces her base would occupy from the front of her base to her tail to occupy those spaces.

- T-Rex has the highest self-damage threshold in the game, able to deal up to 21 damage to herself.

Rules Clarifications

1

Does it matter which space T-Rex is in and attacks/defends from when using combat items?

No, it does not. As long as she is in a space with a combat item, it can be used.

2

Can the T-Rex choose to not use the High Ground Bonus if one of her spaces is not on it?

Yes, but you should declare which space you are attacking from in this scenario.

3

Does T-Rex occupying 2 spaces make her take damage twice from effects like Wily Fighting?

No, T-Rex is still only 1 fighter.

4

Can T-Rex be placed in a single space if that space is surrounded by other fighters?

As long as the placement would not cause her to also occupy a space that already contains another fighter, yes.

5

Does T-Rex need to leave both starting spaces or just one in order to trigger Momentous Shift?

The T-Rex needs to occupy at least one different space. Flipping the T-Rex to face the other side does not change the starting spaces occupied.

6

What happens if I swap spaces with a Large Fighter?

You choose which of the Large Fighter's spaces to place your fighter in (if they were in 2 spaces before the swap). The Large Fighter player chooses which direction to point the back of their base. The player whose turn it is decides the order of these decisions. The Large Fighter cannot point the back of their base in such a way that makes completing the swap impossible.

Recommended Roster:
The Hunters and the Hunted

T-Rex is an absolute beast with tons of tools at her disposal, and her competition is no different. These characters pack a punch but have some clever ways of dealing damage outside of combat, both through card effects and character abilities.
