- Cobble and Fog features characters that are often considered villains. When discussing the inclusion of villains in Unmatched, Brian Neff explained that "there's nuance here when it comes to the common association of what those bad guys do. Invisible Man, Dracula, and Bloody Mary have all certainly done violence and can be pretty creepy. But we wouldn't do someone like Jack the Ripper or Homelander in an Unmatched set, because there are some Content Warnings there that don't jive with what Unmatched is."

Artistic Tidbits from Interviews with The Unmatched Historian
- Andrew described his artistic process when working on this set as "really robotic, but I blame art school (in a good way) for my process. I start with thumbnails, then I gather references or take my own, revise the sketch, then finalize."

- "I really enjoyed all of these characters, as I’ve never played around with the Victorian era before. I had the most fun with Jekyll/Hyde and Dracula. I have an artist buddy (Inkwell Illustrations) who has strong Dracula vibes and I have a ridiculous amount of reference photos of him. Jekyll and Hyde are all me plus some age lines and facial hair! If you look at the cards, you can imagine how silly the reference photos are!"

- "I struggled a lot with the conception stage of the Invisible Man. Figuring out how to show a menacing character without a face will forever be one of the most challenging design problems I’ve had to solve!"

Recommended Roster:
Under Pressure
Dracula may have a fist full of cards and an army of Sisters, but when the enemy gets close he can crumble under the weight of their attacks. Each of these characters looks to put gradual pressure on Dracula, whittling away at his resources gradually before they can close in for the kill.
Invisible Man

Artist: Andrew Thompson
Source Material: The Invisible Man
Thematic Map: SoHo
Recommended Match-Ups: Achilles, Bloody Mary, Buffy, Dracula, Luke Cage

Recommended Roster:
In the Dark of the Night
More thematically cohesive than anything else, turns out a lot of the lower-tier characters in Unmatched happen to fall under the creepy/horror setting. A perfect roster to bring to this year's Halloween game night!
Jekyll/Hyde
Designers: Rob Daviau, Justin D. Jacobson, Chris Leder, and Kevin Rodgers
Artist: Andrew Thompson
Source Material: The Curious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Thematic Map: Baskerville Manor
Recommended Match-Ups: Alice, Dr. Sattler, Ghost Rider, Little Red, Sinbad
History and Fun Facts
- Restoration has internally given every character ability a title, even though only some character cards feature them. Justin Jacobson revealed that Jekyll/Hyde's ability name is "The Serum."
Recommended Roster:
Cancel *This*
Some characters struggle a lot against the dreaded Feint, falling over at the first sign of having a card effect canceled. This roster features strong characters that have no cancels (Yenn) or situational cancels (Little Red) and those looking to get revenge for all those years of being picked on.
Sherlock Holmes
Designers: Rob Daviau, Justin D. Jacobson, Chris Leder, and Kevin Rodgers
Artist: Andrew Thompson
Source Material: A Study in Scarlet
Thematic Map: SoHo
Recommended Match-Ups: Medusa, She-Hulk, Sinbad, Sun Wukong, Yennenga
History and Fun Facts
- Due to Sherlock being such a powerful character in the early meta of Unmatched, the game makers, as stated by Brian Neff, have gone out of their way to design characters that can counter "The Big 3" (Sherlock, Medusa, and Bigfoot) while being susceptible to lower tier characters like King Arthur.
Recommended Roster:
Outwitting a Mastermind
Sherlock ignoring cancel effects while knowing far too much about his opponent's hand makes him one of the top-performing characters in the game, but that doesn't mean he's infallible. With multiple ways to tackle any situation, these Swiss army knives will keep Holmes and Watson on their toes.
